Living / family room
- 55"-85" 4K TV depending on seating distance.
- Mini-LED or bright LED/QLED for daytime viewing.
- 120 Hz if you watch lots of sports.
Use this quick guide to choose the right resolution, size, and technology - then let TechScope deliver, mount, and set everything up.
Resolution is how many pixels make up the picture. More pixels mean more detail, especially with bigger screens or closer seating.
Screen size is measured corner to corner. A simple rule: take your seating distance in inches and divide by two - that's a good minimum 4K screen size.
For most living rooms, we land between 55" and 85". In brighter rooms, prioritize a brighter panel; in dark rooms, go for better contrast.
Move the slider to match how far your main seats are from the TV. We'll suggest a minimum 4K size and a comfortable range.
Minimum recommended TV size: 55"
For older 1080p TVs, you can sit about 1-2 feet farther back than this range.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) lets a TV show brighter highlights, darker blacks, and richer color than standard HD.
Look for TVs with strong peak brightness and solid local dimming to see the full benefit of HDR movies, sports, and games.

4K TVs have about eight million pixels. 8K TVs have four times that. More pixels matter most on very large screens and closer seating.
Upscaling quality matters: flagship processors can make HD sources look cleaner on 4K and 8K sets. Pair large screens with solid motion handling for sports.
Refresh rate is how many times per second the TV redraws the image. It's measured in hertz (Hz).
For gamers, confirm HDMI 2.1 inputs and VRR/ALLM support. For movie-first rooms, motion settings should be configurable so you can avoid the soap-opera effect.
Here's a quick starting point for common residential rooms. We'll fine-tune size and technology based on your exact layout.
All flat-panel TVs use either an LED backlight plus LCD, or self-emissive OLED pixels. Quantum dots and Mini-LED backlights change how bright and colorful the picture can be.
LEDs around the edges of the screen. Thin and affordable, but less precise dimming and black level.
LEDs placed behind the panel in a grid. Better brightness uniformity, but limited local dimming.
Many LED zones with local dimming. Brighter highlights and deeper blacks, especially in HDR scenes.
LED backlight behind an LCD panel. The most common and affordable TV type.
Best for: Everyday living rooms and bedrooms.
Each pixel makes its own light for perfect blacks and excellent contrast.
Best for: Home theaters and movie-first spaces.
Very bright LED backlight with many dimming zones for strong HDR.
Best for: Bright living and family rooms.
Quantum dots boost color and brightness on OLED or LCD panels.
Best for: Premium setups with vivid color and top-tier HDR.
Thin TVs leave very little room for speakers. TechScope can size a sound solution and handle the setup so everything works on day one.
We also handle the details behind the wall—power, network, and cable management—so your space stays clean, safe, and easy to use.
